About NMIMS NPAT

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies  NPAT (NMIMS Programs After Twelfth) is conducted for admission to undergraduate and integrated degree programs offered by the constituent colleges of SVKM’s. Through this entrance test, admission into Mumbai, Shirpur and Bengaluru campus of NMIMS is provided. This exam is usually held in the month of May. The courses covered under NPAT 2020 are B.Tech., B.Sc. Economics, B.Com.(Hons.), B.Sc. Finance, BBA, B.Des. Two Integrated Degree Programs are also there-MBA Tech.

NMIMS NPAT 2020 Application Form

  • NMIMS NPAT 2020 application will start in the last week of January 2020 tentatively. Registrations can be done through online mode only.
  • There is no need to send the hard copy of the filled-in application form to the NMIMS office. The application form submission window will close in the month of May 2020.
  • After the Registration process completion Print the Application as a Hardcopy.

Application Fee

The registration fee depends upon the number of schools for which candidates are applying. The application fee details are as follows,

NPAT Eligibility Criteria

The Eligibility Criteria for NPAT which includes the Age limit for Admission in NMIMS 2020, NMIMS NPAT Qualification as follows. The Following Group or Category of Courses list is the Eligibility for the Admission in NMIMS.

B.Tech & MBA Tech: 

  • Age Criteria: The maximum age limit is 25 years.
  • Qualifying Examination: Passed/appearing 10+2 examination or equivalent examination including International Baccalaureate Diploma with English and Science subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in PCM for the Mumbai campus and 45% marks for the Shirpur campus. Candidates having IB diploma and Mathematics at 10+2 level are eligible to apply Or Diploma holders in Engineering with 50% marks are also eligible to apply.

B.Sc Finance, BBA, B.Com (Hons.)

  • Age Criteria: The maximum age limit is 25 years.
  • Qualifying Examination: Passed/appearing 10+2 examination or equivalent examination including International Baccalaureate diploma (in any discipline) in one attempt only.
  • Minimum Marks: To be eligible for B.Com (Hons.), a minimum of 50% aggregate marks are required and for B.Sc Finance and BBA, 60% of aggregate marks are required. 10+2 must be passed with Mathematics/Statistics for B.Sc Finance, BBA, B.Com (Hons.). IB diploma holders are eligible for B.Sc Finance & BBA only if they have passed the 10+2 in Mathematics/Statistics.

B.Sc Economics

  • Age Criteria: The maximum age limit is 25 years.
  • Qualification: Candidate must have passed/appearing 10+2 or equivalent examination including International Baccalaureate Diploma (in any discipline) in one attempt only with minimum 60% aggregate marks. Must be passed 10+2 in Mathematics/Statistics.

MBA Pharma Tech

  • Age Criteria: The maximum age limit is 25 years.
  • Qualification: Must be passed/appearing 12th or its equivalent examination including International Baccalaureate diploma with science stream (PCM or PCB) and English (compulsory subject). The minimum marks required are 50% (PCM/PCB).

NMIMS NPAT Exam Pattern

  • Exam Duration: The duration of the examination will be 2 hours.
  • Number of Questions: Total 150 questions will be asked. There will be 3 parts in the question paper. Each part has 50 questions.
  • Type of Questions: Objective type questions will be asked in the entrance test. The test will cover three subjects namely Proficiency in English language, Quantitative & Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and General Intelligence.
  • Language: The medium of question paper will be English.
  • Negative Marking: 1/4th of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted in case of marking the wrong answer.

Syllabus for NMIMS NPAT 2020

Syllabus for Paper I:

  • English Language: Recognizing grammatical structure and usage, using prepositions, determiners, connectives, tenses appropriately, grasping the meaning of underlined words in sentences, using appropriate words in the given context. Putting ideas into a logical sequence by putting jumbled sentences in the correct order, Locating Information, grasping ideas, identifying relationships, interpreting ideas, moods, characteristics of characters and tone of the passage.
  • Quantitative and Numerical ability: Fractions, Surds, and Decimals, Number Series, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Discount, Compound Interest & Annuities, Ratio & Proportions, Time, Work & Distance, 2 D & 3D Figures- Areas & Volumes, basic Algebraic Identities, Equations – Linear & Quadratic Sequence and Series (AP, GP). Sets, Operation on Sets and their Applications, using Venn Diagrams, functions, mean, mode, and median, Measures of Dispersion.
  • Reasoning and General Intelligence: Decision Making, Problem Solving, Derive conclusions from logical premises or assess the validity of arguments based on statement of facts, judge, if the information was given is sufficient to answer the question or some additional information is required, Venn Diagram (Identify the class-sub class relationship among given group of items and illustrate it diagrammatically) Mathematical Equalities. Be able to use the information given in graphs and charts to answer questions.

Syllabus for Paper II:

  • Spatial ability and Visualization: Sub-construct, Gestalt Principles of Perception – Proximity, Similarity, Continuation and Closure, Huxley-Lester Model: Sight and thought perception, Cognitive Perception involves a myriad of mental processes: interpretation, memory, comparison, salience, association, inventory, analysis and recognition, Principles of Design: Balance, Proportion, Rhythm, Contrast, Pattern, Movement, Emphasis, and Unity.
  • Observation and problem solving: Sub-construct, Ability to detect complexity/problems related to ease-of-use of modern/day-to-day devices, Ability to understand spatial relations among 2D and 3D objects, Creative Problem-Solving Techniques (Preparation, Incubation, Illumination, and verification). Knowledge of the spatial composition, lighting, Golden Ratio, Rule of Thirds, Balance, Colour preference (Hue, Saturation, Lightness).
  • General awareness and design: Design for Environment to achieve sustainability- Green Design, Process changes and Product changes( focus on intangible products), Designing for social and cultural sustainability- Inclusive Design, Principles of Inclusive design: Responsive, Flexible, Convenient, Accommodating, Welcoming and Realistic, Culture expressed in visual images. Art Movements/Periods- Basic Info, Renowned Historical Artists, and their paintings.

How to Prepare

  • Manage your time as per the subjects mentioned in the syllabus. Planning and Hard work are very important for every exam. Choose the right study material available in the market or on the internet.
  • Practice from previous year question papers it will help you to understand the exam pattern, important topics and type of questions asked. Since there is a negative marking in the examination don’t try to guess the answers.
  • Prepare notes and gather the information that you feel important or tough. To prepare well for the examination, you have to take care of your health.
  • Take the nutritious diet and do exercise and yoga to stay fit. Motivate yourself until you reach the goal.

NMIMS NPAT 2019 Answer keys

NMIMS NPAT Admit Card

When applicants successfully apply for exams and admission through the application form, the university issue the admit card to all the eligible applicants. With the admit card, the university gives its consent to the candidates to appear in the exam.

  • Two or three weeks ago the commencement of the examination, the admit card will be available on the official website of the university.
  • The admit card shall have details such as applicants’ names, addresses, dates of birth. Along with that, it will have the name, timing, and venue of the exam.
  • Besides, admit card, candidates shall have to bring one ID proof as well along with them at the exam center.

NMIMS NPAT Result

Most probably, in the very first week of January 2020, the university will announce the result of the entrance test (NPAT 2020). Candidates can download the scorecard of the result from the official website of the university. On the basis of the result, the University will make the merit list of all the successful candidates. After the release of the merit list, candidates will get the call to appear for counseling.

NMIMS NPAT Cut off

NMIMS NPAT cut off is minimum marks required by the exam authority for candidates’ selection to the next level. Candidates must get above marks compared to cut off; they are the only eligible for the next level of NMIMS NPAT 2020 admission. For every program, the cutoff decided the qualified candidates and released in the way of results.

NMIMS NPAT Counseling

Once the results are announced, merit lists are prepared. NPAT 2020 Counselling and seat allocation of all the qualified candidates is scheduled from Mid-June 2020 to the end of June 2020 according to the merit list. Candidates are required to pay the admission fee to confirm their allotted seats. The seat once allotted will not be changed or altered under any circumstances.

  • After the first round, if there are any vacant seats, a fresh merit list is made. These students are called for seat allotment.
  • Usually, there are three rounds in NPAT counseling. The counseling takes place at designated centers set up by NMIMS.
  • Candidates are advised to check the website regularly if their name appears in any of the three merit lists, so they can report at the center on time to confirm their seat allotment.
