About Dr. YSR Horticultural University

The University was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh through G.O.Ms.No.134 dated 26-06-2007 at Venkataramannagudem, near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari District. It is the second Horticultural University in the country. Some educational programs which were offered under Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University. It was originally managed by a government official until the appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor in 2008 when it became independent. It was renamed as Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University in 2011.

Horticultural University, Administrative Office, Venkataramannagudem, Near Tadepalligudem, 534101, West Godavari District on or before the last date. Application Fee

The downloaded online application should accompany DD drawn in favor of Comptroller, Dr.YSRHU, payable at Tadepalligudem for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) for M.Sc. (Hort.) and Rs.1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only) for Ph.D. (Hort.) for general category and in case of SC/ ST/PHC candidates Rs.250/- and Rs.500/- respectively along with two self-addressed envelopes with Pincode affixing postage stamps of Rs.5/- (Rs.10/- for M.Sc. (Hort.) – Outside State Quota) on each.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission into a Master’s Degree course in Horticulture must have passed the relevant Bachelor’s Degree i.e, B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture with an OGPA of 5.5/10 and for Ph.D. a minimum of 6.50/10.00 OGPA in M.Sc.(Horticulture) from ICAR Accreditated University.

Dr. YSR Horticultural University PG Selection Procedure

M.Sc.(Horticulture) : The selection shall be based on the weightage for previous academic record (B.Sc.-30%, Intermediate – (10+2) – 10% and S.S.C – 10%) and performance in the Entrance test (50%). General and OBC candidates with 50% or more than 50% marks in entrance test are eligible for interview/counseling which is relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates to the extent of seats reserved for them. The entrance test is in the form of an objective type of 200 marks, covering all relevant subjects based on the Bachelor’s degree requirements of this University.

Ph.D. (Horticulture): The Selection shall be based on the previous academic record (M.Sc.(Hort.) – 30%, B.Sc (Hort.) – 10%, and performance in Entrance Test (50%) and 10% for interview. Candidates with 50% or more than 50% marks in entrance test are eligible for interview/counseling which is relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates to the extent of seats reserved for them. The entrance test will be an objective type of 200 marks, with 100 marks from specialization in horticulture and 40 marks from compulsory Biochemistry and statistics courses and another 60 marks from general horticulture.
