About IIST 

IIST B.Tech Admission: Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science, located at Valiamala, Nedumangad Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It is the first university in Asia to be solely dedicated to the study and research of Outer space. It was inaugurated on 14 September 2007 by G. Madhavan Nair, the then Chairman of ISRO.

IIST offers regular engineering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs with a focus on space science, technology, and applications.

IIST offers undergraduate (BTech), master’s (MTech) and Ph.D. programs in space science and technology, and also serves as a research center. Doctoral programs in basic sciences and post-doctoral programs are also offered. Till 2013 batch, three different courses in BTech were offered, namely BTech in Aerospace, Avionics, and Physical Sciences. As of 2014 admissions, a new 5-year Dual Degree (BTech + MTech/M.S) in Engineering Physics replaced the existing Physical Sciences branch.

The MTech/M.S can be done in any of the following – M.S. in Astronomy & Astrophysics, M.S. in Earth System Science, MTech in Machine learning and computing, M.S. in Solid State Physics or MTech in Optical Engineering. The seats are limited to 20 in the dual degree program from the existing 36 in Physical Sciences. 60 students each are admitted to the Aerospace and Avionics branches.

The admissions to the undergraduate (BTech) programs for 2013 and onwards were made through the All India Rank List prepared and published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. The applications for admission to MTech courses are invited directly and students are shortlisted based on undergraduate academic performance, GATE score, interview and projects undertaken by them.

Candidates must have passed 12th from any recognized Board with 60% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates should have valid Scores in JEE Main & JEE Advanced Exams.

IIST B.Tech Admission 2024 Application Form

Applications should be completed only through online mode. Candidates applying for the admissions should follow the below-mentioned steps while filling the application form:

• Visit the Official Website of the University. i.e., www.iist.ac.in
• Register for IIST B.Tech Admissions 2024. 
• Click on “Registration for New User”. Now enter the details such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Email ID, Phone Number, etc.
• After the registration part is completed, the applicants will be provided with a new User ID and Password.
• Login with the credentials and fill the remaining application part such as Educational Qualification, Caste, Address.
• Upload Scanned Photo & Signature in prescribed size.
• Upload the required documents as mentioned in the application form.
• Payment should be done through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking or Demand Draft.

The Cut Off marks are the minimum marks in which the candidates must score to participate in Admission Process.

The Cut Off will be declared based on the below factors :

• Number of candidates appeared for the Exam
• Previous Cut Off Marks
• The difficulty of the Exam
• Availability of the total number of seats.

IIST B.Tech 2024 Counselling

Candidates will be invited for the counselling based on the merit list & marks obtained in the  Entrance Exam. In the Counselling Process, candidates will be allotted seats based on the preference and marks. After allotment of seats, candidates have to reach the allotted college for admissions. Candidates should carry relevant documents, Seat Allotment Letter & Admission Fee. No direct admission will be given to any of the applicants. If the candidates fail to submit the below-mentioned documents, their candidature will be canceled.
