Goa University invites applications for the academic year 2024. Goa University selects the candidates on the basis of GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test). University selects students only on a merit basis. This university offers seats for reservation candidates SC/ST/OBC and other categories.

About Goa University

Goa University was established under the Goa University Act of 1984 (Act No. 7 of 1984) and commenced operations on 1 June 1985. The university provides higher education in the Indian state of Goa. It is located on Taleigao Plateau overlooking Zuari estuary on a picturesque campus spread over 427.49 acres with state-of-the-art infrastructure such as faculty blocks, administrative building, library, sports facilities, student hostels, bank, post-office, staff quarters, etc. campus-wide Internet connectivity with strong bandwidth is available for all 24 hours a day.

The University took over the enhanced role of Centre of Post-Graduate Instruction and Research (CPIR) which was set after the liberation of Goa by India in December 1961, by the University of Bombay (now Mumbai), in June 1962. Since 1985 Goa University offers graduate and post-graduate studies and research programs. It is currently (2014-19) accredited to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in India with A Grade.

Courses offered by Goa University

The University has 26 Departments and 2 Centres offering 33 programs leading to Masters degree, 21 programs leading to M.Phil. Degree and 25 programs leading to the Ph.D. degree in various disciplines. In addition, 9 research institutions in various disciplines situated in the state of Goa are also recognized for research programs leading to a Ph.D. degree by the University. Including with these it also offers Under Graduation, Post-graduation.

Duration of course at Goa University

Goa University offers undergraduate programs for 4 Full-time Years, Postgraduate programs for 2 Full-Time years, It offers the Ph.D. program for a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years.

Mode of entrance

The university offers entrance to the candidates only if they get qualified in GCET (Goa Common Entrance Test). The candidates applied will be short-listed only on a merit basis.

• The application fee for reserved category is INR 250/-

Eligibility Criteria for Goa University Admissions

Eligibility for UG

• Complete 10+2 with at least 50% marks. Should get selected in GCET

Eligibility for Postgraduates

• Candidates must complete a bachelor’s degree or any other equivalent examination with at least 55% marks. Should have completed 10+2 and get qualified in UGCET Exam

Eligibility for Ph.D. & M.Phill

• Candidates must complete a master’s degree in the concerned branch with at least 55% marks or equivalent from the University of Goa or any other recognized University.  Candidates must complete a bachelor’s degree or any other equivalent examination with at least 55% marks. Should have completed 10+2 and get qualified in UGCET Exam.
