About the University 

Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) is a research and education institute in Chennai, India. It was founded by the SPIC Science Foundation in 1989, and offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, besides its key strength in the form of high-end research in Mathematics. CMI is noted for its research in the field of algebraic geometry, in particular in the area of moduli of bundles.

CMI has Ph.D. programs in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics. Recently, CMI has introduced the possibility of students pursuing a part-time Ph.D. at the Institute. Since 1998, CMI has offered a B.Sc.(Hons) degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. This three-year program also includes courses in Humanities and Physics. In 2001, CMI began separate M.Sc. programs in Mathematics and in Computer Science. In 2003, CMI introduced a new three-year program in the form of a B.Sc.(Hons) degree in Physics. In 2009, CMI began to offer a new program M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics, which is scheduled to be replaced with a new M.Sc. in Data Science program in 2020.

Applications for admissions to all the programmes offered at CMI are available on the official website of the institute. You can apply it online or offline. Here are the steps to be followed for filling the application

  • Here you need to enter your email id and click on submit button.
  • On successful verification of the mail, you will get the CMI Applicant ID and password.
  • Login with the given ID and password and fill all the necessary details.
  • Payment should be done after filling the application form.
  • For the candidates who want to fill the application offline, just download the application form and fill out the details and make the payment through Demand Draft(DD).

Offline Application Fee – Rs 900/-

CMI Admissions – Counselling – Required Documents

Candidates those who will be qualified in the entrance exam, will be called for the counselling. Counselling Dates will be announced by the University. The following documents have to be submitted by the university at the time of counselling.
