About Tamil Nadu Open University
Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) is an Indian institution for open and distance learning established by the government of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 2002 and is based in Chennai. The motto of this University is “Education for all and Ever”.
The university was established by the Legislative Assembly of the government of Tamil Nadu in Act 27 of 2002 to provide access to higher education for those who had been previously unable to pursue it. It opened in 2003, was recognized by the University Grants Commission in September 2015, and is one of five universities approved to offer distance learning outside its state of establishment. As of January 2016, it was one of 14 state open universities in India, which also has one national open university, Indira Gandhi National Open University; as of April 2017, it was one of 111 distance learning institutions in the country.
As of December 2017, it offers 113 programs of study at levels from certificate to postgraduate and has 13 academic schools, five support divisions, a media center and more than 600 learner support centers across Tamil Nadu. So far, 1, 71,430 students have passed out of the University and the current enrollment (2015 – 2016) stands at 29,351 with male students accounting for 14,206. With the sanctioned teaching staff strength of 65 and non – teaching staff strength of 77, the University has been ably addressing the learning needs of all the students.

Application Process
To apply for admission in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, candidates should follow the below-mentioned steps.
- Application forms can be obtained from the University Sale Counter or Study Centre or Zonal Centres on payment of Rs 100/- per application.
- Before submitting the Application Form, applicants are asked to read carefully and thoroughly the Application Form, the OMR Application Form and the instructions for filling up the Application Form. Before filling in the Application Form, check your eligibility regarding minimum required age, educational qualification, experience, etc., for the Programmes applied for.
- Copies of the certificates, photo of the applicant and the signature of the applicant should be attested by Group A or Group B officers of Tamil Nadu Government or Members of Syndicate, Academic Council and Boards of Studies of Tamil Nadu Open University or Teaching Staff or Non Teaching Staff of Tamil Nadu Open University principals of Colleges/Headmasters / Headmistresses of Government/ Government Recognized Higher Secondary or High Schools or Co-ordinators of respective Study Centres.
- Applicants have to submit the application form along with the University copy of the challan.
- Selected candidates will be called for counselling for verification of Documents.
