TS PGLCET 2024 Exam Papers & Subjects

TS PGLCET, also known as Telangana State Post Graduate Law Common Entrance Test, is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Osmania University, Hyderabad, for admission to various postgraduate law programs such as LL.M. The exam is conducted annually, and the subjects tested include Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Public International Law, Mercantile Law, Labour Law, Crimes and Torts, and IPR & Other Laws.

The TS PGLCET exam paper consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A contains 40 questions from Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Public International Law, and Part B contains 80 questions from Mercantile Law, Labour Law, Crimes and Torts, and IPR & Other Laws. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes, and the question paper is available in both English and Telugu.

The following is the syllabus for TS PGLCET:

Part A:

  • Jurisprudence: Schools of Jurisprudence – Sources of Law, Custom Precedent and Legislation, Rights and duties – Ownership and Possession, Persons, Obligation, Property, Liability, Legal Sanctions.
  • Constitutional Law: Nature of the Constitution: Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, Executive Judiciary, Centre-State Relations, Emergency provisions, Amending Process.
  • Public International Law: International Law and Municipal Law, Subjects, State Territory, Air, Sea and outer space, Nationality and Statelessness, Extradition, Asylum, State Jurisdiction, United Nations.

Part B:

  • Mercantile Law: General Principles of Contract (Sections. 1-75, Indian Contract Act-1872)
  • Labour Law: Trade Union Act 1926. Industrial Disputes Act 1947.
  • Crimes and Torts: Indian Penal Code -General Principles & General Exceptions. Tort: General Principles of Tort, Liability of State – Consumer Protection Act,1986.
  • IPR & Other Laws: Copyright Act, 1957; Patents Act, 1970; Environmental Protection Act, 1986; Human Rights, The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, Salient features of Information Technology Act, 2000 and Right to Information Act 2005.

It is recommended that candidates thoroughly go through the syllabus and previous year question papers before appearing for the exam.

TS PGLCET 2024 Exam Pattern

To know well about the TS PGLCET 2022 syllabus, the students must know the exam pattern that is followed in the TS PGLCET exam. Below, you can find the same. Part A will have 40 questions of one mark each and Part B contains 80 questions of one Mark each.

  • Duration: The TS PGLCET exam is conducted for a duration of 90 minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes).
  • Marks: The exam is conducted for a total of 120 marks.

The exam consists of two parts:

  1. Part A: Consists of 40 questions on Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, and Public International Law. Each question carries 1 mark, making the total marks for Part A as 40 marks.
  2. Part B: Consists of 80 questions on subjects such as Mercantile Law, Labour Law, Crimes and Torts, and IPR & Other Laws. Each question carries 1 mark, making the total marks for Part B as 80 marks.

Therefore, the total marks for the TS PGLCET exam are 120 marks.

TS PGLCET 2024 Negative Marking Scheme

The TS PGLCET (Telangana State Post Graduate Law Common Entrance Test) is conducted for admission into LLM courses offered by various colleges in Telangana state.

As per the official notification and exam pattern of TS PGLCET, there is no provision of negative marking for incorrect answers. So, the candidates are not penalized for marking incorrect responses.

However, it is important to note that there is a provision of normalization of scores in case multiple sets of question papers are used for the examination. This is done to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged due to the difficulty level of the question paper that they have attempted.
