About Tamil Nadu Board of Education
The Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education (TNBSE) was established to monitor and evaluate the education standards in the state of Tamil Nadu. More than 30,000 schools in the state are affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education.
The State Institute of Education (SIE) was established in 1965 to provide for the systematic study of problems relating to School Education under the administration of the Directorate of School Education.
- 1970 – State Institute of Education (SIE) was upgraded as State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT)
- 1990 – The Government of Tamil Nadu created the Directorate of Teacher Education, Research and Training (DTERT), by orders wide G.O.748, Education (F2) Department, dated 04.06.1990. The SCERT was renamed as DTERT.
- 2012 – DTERT was upgraded into the “State Council of Educational Research and Training” vide G.O 83. School Education Department, dated 26.03.2012.
