About ITI Puducherry
The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education of Puducherry deals with Vocational Education. In the 1950s Craftsmen Scheme was established by the Union Government of India to provide vocational knowledge through Industrial Training Institutes.
The responsibility of skill-oriented programs comes under through State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) and trade courses at the national level are through the National Council of Vocational Training.
The main objective of vocational training is to develop technical skills in the aspirants. Upon completion of the Courses, the Institute gives NCVT or SCVT Trade Certificates. Based on these Course Certificates, students can roll for jobs at the National or State Level.
