About UPCATET Counselling 2024 – Overview

UPCATET is a state level combined Agricultural entrance exam for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in agriculture, horticulture, veterinary science, and other related fields offered by the university.

The UPCATET is a multiple-choice question-based exam with questions from various subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Agriculture, and English language. Total 200 questions are asked with a total 600 points. The candidates will receive three points for correct answer & each wrong answer carries one negative marks. The exam is conducted offline. The exam duration is 3 hours. The exam application process starts from May and the exam takes place in June.

The eligibility criteria for UPCATET vary depending on the course for which the candidate is applying. However, generally, candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PH candidates) in the relevant subjects.

After the exam, UPCATET releases the merit list based on the candidate’s performance in the entrance exam. Candidates who have their names in the merit list are then called for counseling and seat allotment. The counseling process generally starts in July/August.

UPCATET 2024 Counselling Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for UPCATET counselling are as follows:

1. Educational Qualification: The candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology/Agriculture as compulsory subjects.
2. Age Limit: The minimum age limit for admission to UPCATET is 16 years as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit.
3. Domicile: Only candidates who are residents of Punjab or have studied in a recognized educational institution in Punjab for at least two years are eligible for UPCATET counselling.
4. Qualifying marks: The candidate should have secured at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST/BC categories) in the qualifying examination.
5. Medical fitness: The candidate should be medically fit and should produce a certificate to that effect.
