Engineering Mathematics

Linear Algebra: Vector algebra, Matrix algebra, systems of linear equations, rank of a matrix, eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

Calculus: Functions of single variable, limits, continuity and differentiability, mean value theorem, chain rule, partial derivatives, maxima and minima, gradient, divergence and curl, directional derivatives. Integration, Line, surface and volume integrals. Theorems of Stokes, Gauss and Green.

Differential Equations: First order linear and nonlinear differential equations, higher order linear ODEs with constant coefficients. Partial differential equations and separation of variables methods.

Special Topics: Fourier Series, Laplace Transforms, Numerical methods for linear and nonlinear algebraic equations, Numerical integration and differentiation.

Complex variables: Complex number, polar form of complex number, triangle inequality.

Probability and Statistics: Definitions of probability and sampling theorems, Conditional probability, Mean, median, mode and standard deviation, Random variables, Poisson, Normal and Binomial distributions, Linear regression analysis.

Numerical Methods: Numerical solutions of linear and non-linear algebraic equations. Integration by trapezoidal and Simpson’s rule. Single and multi-step methods for numerical solution of differential equations.

Reservoir Engineering: Petrophysical properties of rocks, coring and core analysis, phase behavior, hydrocarbon system, flow of fluids, water & gas coning, reservoir pressure measurements, reserve estimation & techniques

Petroleum Production Operation: Well equipments, well completion methods, well production problems, servicing, workover fluids, formation damage, storage of petroleum, petroleum system analysis, multiphase flow in tubing & flow lines, nodal system analysis, pressure vessels, storage tanks, artificial lift techniques, pumps, compressors, LNG value chain

Offshore Drilling and Production Practices: Offshore fixed platforms, mobile units, station keeping methods, deep water technologies, well completion, oil processing platforms, water injection platforms, SPM and SBM transportation, mooring & dynamic positioning system, jack up, ships, semi submersibles

Petroleum Formation Evaluation: Evaluation of CBL/ VDL, USIT< SFT, RFT, Production logging tools, principles, FMS- Formation Micro scanner, NMR logging principles, resistivity radioactive, sub surface formations
