About UPSC(यू.पी.एस.सी) – Union Public Service Commission
The Union Public Service Commission is India’s central recruiting agency. It is responsible for appointments to and examinations for All India services and group A & group B of Central services. The UPS commission is mandated by the Constitution for appointments to the services of the Union and All India Services. It is also required to be consulted by the Government in matters relating to the appointment, transfer, promotion and disciplinary matters. The Union Public Service Commission reports directly to the President and can advise the Government through him.

Civil Services Exam – CSE
The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive exam in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India. It is conducted in three phases – a preliminary examination consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II also popularly known as Civil Service Aptitude Test or CSAT), and a main examination consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay) type, followed by a personality test (interview).
Indian Engineering Services Exam – IESE
Indian Engineering Services (IES) are the civil services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. The nature of work performed by these bureaucrats largely depends on their engineering branch and the service or cadre they are recruited in. Large number of candidates take these exams, competing for limited posts. IES officers are selected by the union government on the recommendations made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). A combined three-stage competitive examination (comprising five tests), called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services.
Combined Medical Services Exam – CMSE
The Combined Medical Services Exam or the CMS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment as Medical Officer in various organizations such as the Indian Ordnance Factories, Indian Railways functioning under the Government of India. The Notification for the exam is usually released in the month of march and examination is conducted in June. Successful Candidates are admitted after an interview conducted by the UPSC for those having qualified the written exam.
Combined Defence Services Exam – CDSE
The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The Notification for the CDS exam is usually released in the months of October and June, and the exams are conducted in February and November respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
National Defence Academy Exam – NDA
The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academies for further pre-commissioning training. The NDA is located at Khadakwasla near Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world.
Special Class Railway Apprentice – SCRA
The Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) was a programme by which candidates are selected by the Union Public Service Commission in India, to train in the undergraduate program in mechanical engineering at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur. This programme started in 1927 and is one of the oldest in India. This exam was cancelled by the UPSC in 2016
Indian Forest Service Exam – IFS
Indian Forest Service (IFS) (भारतीय वन सेवा) is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India. The other two All India Services being the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). Officers are recruited via an open competitive examination conducted by the UPSC and then trained for about two years by the Central Government at Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy. Their services are placed under various State cadres and joint cadres, even though they have the mandate to serve both under the State and Central Governments.
Indian Economic Service Exam – IES
The Indian Economic Service (IES) is an organized Group ‘A’ Central Service. The IES was constituted in 1961 with the objective of institutionalising a core professional capacity within the Government to undertake economic analysis and render advice for designing and formulating development policies, strengthening delivery systems, and monitoring and evaluating the public programmes. The Cadre Controlling of the IES is located in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs).
Indian Statistical Service Exam – ISS
The Indian Statistical Service (ISS) भारतीय सांख्यिकी सेवा is an organized Group-A Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India. The ISS officers play a diversified role in the statistical thinking of the Government and they contribute significantly in national and international organizations in terms of ensuring statistical administration; statistical planning & advice; formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development policy and programmes etc.
Combined Geo-scientist and Geologist Exam
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts a competitive examination for recruitment and selection to the post of Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist Group ‘A’ in GSI and Junior Hydro-geologist (Scientist ‘B’), Group ‘A’ for Central Ground Water Board.
Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandant) Exam – CAPF
The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to uniform nomenclature of five security forces in India under the authority of Ministry of Home Affairs. They are the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The recruitment of the candidates in the CAPF is done by the Union Public Service Commission as well the staff selection commission and respective service HQs for the various posts according to the qualification of the candidates. For the higher levels posts, IPS officers are deputed.
